Wem: Acoustic show to pay tribute to famous songwriters

AN ACOUSTIC show paying tribute to the greatest songwriters, including George Harrison and Don McLean, will come to Wem this month.

The Dan Haynes Songwriters Show will be staged at Wem Town Hall in the High Street on Friday May 20, in which Dan will pay tribute to the Beatles star and American Pie singer.

It will also pay tribute to singers, Ben Howard, Damien Rice and Bon Iver

Ian Kerry, executive director of Arts Alive, said the event will be a stunning acoustic performance.

He added, “Whether in a cozy folk club still lost in the 60s or in a modern arena full of energy, a great song never fails to captivate and transport an audience.

“In this debut show, Dan Haynes, along with his good friend Jonny Knight, pays homage to a host of songwriting legends.

“It will be a stunning acoustic performance of music from songwriting legends and contemporary icons.”

The show received five-star reviews at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and BBC radio called it “absolutely breathtaking”.

The show is suitable for people aged 18 and over.

Tickets cost £13 for adults and £11 for under 18s.
