Songwriters and Wordsmiths at Hootananny Brixton, Tuesday 9th August 2022 – Brixton Buzz
The popular night of songwriters and wordsmiths at Hootananny returns with another solid lineup. Here’s what’s scheduled for their free show on Tuesday, August 9:
Headliner Eli (and band) // Singer, songwriter and musician from South London ELI is an alternative artist who combines ethereal harmonic vocals, melodic guitar riffs and syncopated beats to form her own distinctive sound. Drawing inspiration from the Indie, Soul, Trip Hop and Pop genres, ELI’s music carries a significant cultural weight that delicately lends itself to his music.
Xylaroo (Holly Chant Solo Ensemble) // Normally comprised of sisters Holly and Coco Chant, Xylaroo offers a unique genre of indie/folk/pop. The group was formed in Kent in the 2010s, with the sisters drawing inspiration for their music from experiences across Asia, and now in East London and Sweden.
TEM // Inspired by artists such as Ben Howard, The Staves and Bon Iver, Tem creates intimate shows and captures the hearts of her audience.
With her unique, breathing and comforting sound, as well as her soft, deep and colorful voice, she connects with every person in the room.
Aisling Carter // Our young regular singer-songwriter-in-residence continues to develop her wonderful songwriting and performing skills. She is getting better and better and this time she brings a second guitarist and a saxophonist. Aisling weaves her songs with threads from classic literature and South London life and presents them with the passion of a riot girl. His enthusiasm for experimenting with time signatures, song structure and guitar sounds means that his work is constantly evolving.
