Singer-songwriters and hip-hop and fusion artists enter JioSaavn’s Hindi Top 15
What’s bubbling in the independent, unsigned music of Indian Hindi artists? To find out, check out the shortlist of 15 artists and their songs that recently launched JioSaavn Spotted’s hunt for musical talent for the Hindi tour.
Of these 15 songs, the top five tracks on JioSaavn will go to composer Salim Merchant, hip-hop artist DIVINE, folk-fusion and playback artist Papon, and singer-songwriter Jonita Gandhi. It was the judging panel members who were tasked with choosing a final winner for the Hindi round of JioSaavn Spotted 2022.
The finalists so far range from Keydroid producer aka Rakshit Thantry (“Saawan Laye” features singer-songwriter Onkar Tarkase); fusion-rock artist Aseem Trivedi (“Durga”); and softer, fiery pop artists Shubham J (“Main Hu Hi Kiya”), Anmol Jaswal (“Raat Bhar”), Siddharth Agarwal (“Banja Beimaan”) and Arya Salvi (“Ragini”). Gravity (“Sim Sim” with fellow Mumbai rapper Shah Rule) and Ansh Jain (“Jee Lagta”) bring hip-hop and R&B on board, and there’s also shimmering pop from Aman Sagar (” Tere Irade”) and a melodramatic twist from Rajeshwari on “Soleil”.
There is certainly a dose of sweetness and angst present among the Hindi finalists of JioSaavn Spotted, as evidenced by AB & Aryaman’s “Ghadi Ke Haath”, and more explosive arrangements put together by Koustav Dasgupta (“Mera Pata ”) and Surya Pratap Singh Shekhawat (“Dil Ke Saaye”).
Launching on April 25 and ending on December 10, JioSaavn Spotted 2022 will see four zonal rounds – East, West, North and South – as well as three language rounds – English, Hindi, Punjabi.
