Alessia Cara, JP Saxe and Ruby Waters will also be present for a tribute performance

It was announced this spring that Alanis Morissette would (ahem, finally) be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022. In addition to the arrival of David Foster and Daniel Lavoie among the inductees, other decidedly not-so-brutal news shows that Olivia Rodrigo will be honoring Morissette — one of her own musical idols — by presenting her with the induction.

“I remember hearing Alanis for the first time when I was around 13,” Rodrigo said in a statement. “I was in the car with my parents when Little shredded pill has come. I heard ‘Perfect’, I was like ‘Oh my God… Can you write songs like that?’ I just looked at music and songwriting in a completely different way.”

It won’t be the first time the two anxiety-providers have teamed up either: they appeared together on the cover of rolling stone last October, and Morissette joined Rodrigo for a duet of “You Oughta Know” at his show in Los Angeles on May 24.

The reunion will take place Sept. 24 at Massey Hall in Toronto, where Rodrigo brought Avril Lavigne in for a performance of “Complicated” in April.

Rodrigo’s Grammy Best New Artist Alessia Cara will pay tribute to Morissette alongside JP Saxe and Ruby Waters. Fellow future inductees, Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, will be honored with performances from Nickelback’s Corey Hart and Chad Kroeger and Ryan Peake.

Hosted by Marie-Mai, the gala will see additional performances from Morissette herself, as well as Jessie Reyez, Charlotte Cardin, Serena Ryder and more. The last remaining tickets for the star-studded affair are available here.
