NAFME Announces Winners of 2022 NAFME Student Composer Competition, Student Songwriter Competition and Student Electronic Music Competition
The National Association for Music Education holds three student competitions each school year: the Student Composer Competition, the Electronic Music Composition Competition, and the Student Songwriter Competition, all open to students from kindergarten through middle school/ diploma. This fall, the winners of the 2022 contests were announced.
RESTON, Go., November 2, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) holds three student competitions each school year: the Student Composer Competition, the Electronic Music Composition Competition and the Student Songwriter Competition, all open from kindergarten to college/diploma. students. This fall, the winners of the 2022 contests were announced.
The NAFME Student Composers competition highlights original music written by student composers. Students from primary, secondary, college and doctoral schools submitted their work to the competition. Selected composers receive cash prizes, thanks to the generous support of the European American Musical Alliance (Dr. Philippe Lasser, President). All participants also receive written evaluations of their compositions. Selected works will be presented at the 2022 NAFME National Conference at National Harbor, Marylandon November 4.

The NAFME Electronic Music Composition Competition rewards outstanding compositions and highlights the effectiveness of music technology in the school curriculum. Entries are judged on aesthetic quality, use of electronic media, and power of composition.
NAFME member judges selected the winners in three categories: K-8; grades 9 to 12; and college/graduate school. Each participant must be sponsored by a member of NAFME or be a member in good standing of NAFME Collegiate. Submitted compositions had to be 5 minutes or less and be electronically composed or include electronic instruments (vocal and/or acoustic instruments could be combined with electronic instruments).
Selected composers receive cash prizes. All participants will receive written evaluations of their work.

The NAFME Student Songwriters Competition, now in its third year, gave students the opportunity to submit original songs. Cash prizes are awarded to selected songwriters. All participants receive written evaluations of their work. Selected works will be presented at the 2022 NAFME National Conference at National Harbor, Marylandon November 4.
