Dripping Springs to Host 8th Annual Songwriters Festival

By Megan Wehring

DRIP SPRINGS – Fifty songwriters will perform in a three-day festival in Dripping Springs.

The eighth annual Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival will take place October 14-16 in historic downtown Dripping Springs – songwriters will perform on eight unique stages, Nashville style.

Attendees have the opportunity to enjoy the festival for free and experience original songs artfully crafted by amazing local, national and international artists thanks to sponsors who subscribe to the program, according to a press release.

Supporting local businesses, stages will be at Hudson’s on Mercer, Mazama’s Coffee Co, Acopon Brewing, The Barber Shop, Warehouse Courtyard, Sidecar Tasting Room, Dog ‘N’ Bone and Haus of Jayne. The indoor and outdoor stages will be set up as “listening rooms”. The Gospel Brunch will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 15 at Hudson’s on Mercer. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, the gospel show will feature several songwriters performing their own songs as well as traditional gospel songs.

“We are proud to bring this level of rising star songwriters to the Dripping Springs area,” said Pam Owens, president and CEO of the DS Visitors Bureau. “Our festival has a great reputation in the songwriting community, and this year 243 talented songwriters applied – so we know we’ve selected 50 great artists to perform. They represent many genres, including country, americana, rock and blues, and we’re thrilled to bring back the headliners concert as well.

The Saturday night headliners concert returns after a five-year hiatus with this year’s show at Mercer Dancehall featuring Aaron Barker, Leslie Satcher and David Lee. The authors, who will sing in the round, have written songs recorded by George Strait, Willie Nelson, the Oak Ridge Boys, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride, Pam Tillis, Gretchen Wilson, Patty Loveless, Vince Gill, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks and Maren Morris.
