DioField Chronicle composers talk about the game’s music

The DioField Chronicle fast approaching its release date of September 22, 2022. Before that day, Square-Enix released a behind-the-scenes look at the game’s music.

The game features a fully orchestrated soundtrack, and the interview focuses on the game’s composers, Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell.

In the interview, Djawadi and Campbell talked about how a game’s music can stay with a player long after the game is over, and their composition process for The DioField Chronicle. They talked about tailoring the composition to the needs of the setting of the game. One thing Campbell found fun was having the freedom to write “big orchestral pieces” not tied to raising the drama of a specific scene, but of the diversity of atmospheres of the game as a whole.

Ramin Djawadi is best known for his compositional work for film and television. He composed for series like those of HBO game of thronesand Westwworldand for movies like Marvel’s Iron Man and Eternals, Pacific Rim, and The great wall.

Brandon Campbell is a frequent collaborator with Djawadi, and in addition to helping score The DioField Chroniclemusic co-composed for Amazon New world RPG online. He also worked on the music of Pacific Rim: The Black (the anime Pacific Rim spin off), Gears of War 4 and Speeds 5and live action Warcraft film.
