Composers Concordance will present THE ART OF THE ART SONG with soprano Ljiljana Winkler

Friday, December 2 at 8 p.m. at Greenwich House, Concordance of composers will present a concert program that propels an age-old form of composition into the 21st century. The Art of the Art Song features soprano Ljiljana Winkler, from the German group Formation Solenne, who performs songs by nine of today’s most dynamic composers, writing under the influence of many contemporary styles and texts.

Ljiljana joins CompCord Ensemble: violinist Lynn Bechtoldoboist Katie Scheele, trumpeter Peter Oswaldpianist Jai Jeffryes, electric guitarist/bandleader Gene Pritsker and bandleader Charles Colman on a program of artistic songs composed by Aaron Alter, Kitty Brazelton, Benjamin Louis Brody, Luis Andrei Cobo, Dan Cooper, Eugene W. McBride, Gene Pritsker, Will Rowe, Marina Vesic and Joseph Waters. overKyll II by Gene Pritsker, based on a poem by Anton Humpe; Fire and Sleet and Candlelight by Aaron Alter, based on a poem by Elinor Wylie; Little Water Drops by Dan Cooper, based on Shakespeare; There You Are, Here I Am by Eugene W. McBride, dedicated to the Ukrainian people; and Kitty Brazelton’s Leaving, dedicated to CompCord founder Joseph Pehrson, are among the compositions featured.

The concert will also be broadcast live on Concordance Facebook page of composers.
