Everything seems to start with an online presence these days. To succeed in entertainment, having a large following on various forms of social media is crucial, with the last imperative platform being TikTok.
For example, some of the most famous music creators today, such as Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae, have enhanced their careers using TikTok. TikTok is a platform that many artists use to start or boost their music careerand often the app allows these artists to increase their notoriety through their followings, likes, views and shares.
In the winter of 2021, California high schooler Olivia Rodrigo only had a few thousand followers on TikTok. When she posted a snippet of a song she was writing, it went viral overnight.
Several hundred Staples students followed Rodrigo on Instagram after the release of his album, contributing to his large following and increased popularity. Rodrigo has shown many people that it is possible to become famous from a social media app and start your own successful career.
Although Rodrigo wasn’t the first TikToker to rise to fame on the app, she was one of the most monumental people in paving the way for new artists to achieve TikTok fame.
Even some creative students at Staples High School have shown off their talents on TikTok in the form of singing, dancing, cooking, art, selling clothes and making jewelry.

Earning money directly from the TikTok company is a tough thing to do. However, using TikTok to drive consumers to your own webpage is more easily achievable. Even if you’re not a songwriter, TikTok allows creators of all things to get exposure and market themselves/their products to the right audience to increase sales and promote their small businesses.
Unique opportunities for teens to earn money and showcase their abilities have opened up through social media apps. While some parents may think social media is a “waste of time,” apps like TikTok can actually help their kids start their own business or build a career, as long as they’re ready to work. Fame and good business requires a strong work ethic and the ability to market to the right audience, and on TikTok that means including the right hashtags to put your videos on the For You page.
As many are starting to see a bright future for TikTok offers, the apps themselves are starting to become a popular source of advertising for individuals and/or their small businesses. Over time, TikTok has become a place where dreamers and creators can showcase their skills and talents online for the world to see.
